The Sapper is an advanced construction cruiser for the PHC.
Heavy Engineer. Builds advanced base defenses.
Background
The Sapper is an advanced construction cruiser considerably tougher than a regular Engineer. In order to utilize the Sapper, the player must have an Orbital Fabricator built and be able to afford the 90 Quanta price tag.
The Sapper is equipped with the same Fabrication Array and Fusion Arc that allow it to repair damaged buildings and produce structures, however the Sapper is more sophisticated in that it is able to produce advanced based defences directly on the field, instead of having to upgrade basic defences.
Weapon Specs
Fabrication Array
Uses stored patterns to construct various structures or to assist in unit construction.
Fusion Arc
Restores damaged units and structures by fusing repair nanites into the affected target.
- 50 DPS per unit
- 200 meters range
- Armor-piercing
Game Usage
- Sapper can only be obtained via the orbital ability Call Sapper.
- Sapper acts an advanced Engineer, able to construct everything that a Engineer can do, except for Technology buildings. Instead, the Sapper can construct advanced defenses directly instead of having to upgrade them through their basic tier 1 form.
- Sapper has no weapon to protect itself and can survive vs a very light amount of frigates for some time. Anything more than that will overwhelm it with ease.
- Sapper can be dropped aggressively to build proxy buildings behind enemy lines, defensively to cut the need of upgrading high amount of defenses or simply to have a constructor unit quickly at an important location.
